error while executing serial port communication

Hi Folks,

I am using Labview 8 Evaluation software , i am getting an error while executing serial port communication example that is given by the NI .I wanted to know if evaluation software supports serial communication ?

It does. As long as you have VISA installed. Did you install NI-VISA? What is the error message?

No , i haven't installed VISA . The error message is as below

" Error -1073807202 occurred at Property Node in VISA Configure Serial Port (Instr).vi->Serial_read.vi "

If you had done a search on that error code the results would have told you that you need to install VISA. So, go do that and see how far you get.

Thank u so much for the information . Does NI VISA comes with Evaluation software ???? . Because we are still in the process of evaluating Labview so we dont have the license of the Labview full version ???????

it must gets installed if you have chosen to install all the drivers that came along..

If you dont have the cd's then you can find the same here

That's just the Run-Time Engine. For development you need the full version.
