Did you mean:

determine tcp port number

What data are you talking about? Why can't you be specific? Data is generated by some application and its either an application you write or one that is not. An ip address will have multiple ports as you can see from the netstat command. If you looked at the Wikipedia article, you would have seen ports reserved for certain applications (i.e. ftp). Do you want to monitor all Ethernet traffic with something like wireshark?

There are some examples for using wireshark. Do a search.

Looking at all of your previous posts, I see you mentioning changing the modulation scheme. What hardware do you have that allows this sort of control? Obviously, you can can't do this by just receiving and resending the data on just the controller you mentioned. Are you using the software radio hardware - http://www.ni.com/sdr/? If so, that would explain most of the confusion in this thread. There is a dedicated board for that.

i do have an Mimas board in my PXI like in this link http://www.prevas.com/mimas_prevas.html.

so i cannot just use like a alternate mark inversion vi function to change the line coding? i though this is the way to do it. my original idea was, read the traffic data from ethernet port, manipulate its line coding using AMI vi and then re-transmit it through another ethernet port.

I don't know. It would have helped immensely if you had mentioned this in your original question instead of just talking about the Ethernet ports on the pc. Like I said, there is a dedicated board for usrp and for the new communications suite. Your questions belong there.
