defect tracking software

Apologies for posting this on the LabView forum, but I did not see a general tools board.

Can anyone recommend an enterprise level defect tracking software?
I am familiar with a lot of software only (VCS and bug tracking), but need something that can handle
software, documentation, customer service calls, etc.
I figure someone on this forum probably has experience with something that they like (or think should be avoided).

Thanks in advance.

Hi jspaarg,

Excel sheet is one simple solution.

But a tool can be developed in LabVIEW with proper plan.

Keeping the backend data acquistion as excel sheet....

Just think of a proper design of look and feel and also inputs.

May be we shall develop it, even i am in a thought to develop at the earliest to my team.

I know this is an old thread, but if someone comes across this looking for suggestions concerning bug tracking software, I might have a few.

First a disclaimer:  Although I might hold the title to Bug King of the Universe, I have not used bug tracking software other than the afore mentioned Excel.  So I am speaking from ignorance as a fellow-searcher-for-good-free-coding-aids.

Wikipedia (go figure) has a comparison of bug tracking software: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_issue_tracking_systems

You might also try the LAVA (LabVIEW Advanced Virtual Architects) forum: http://forums.lavag.org/Issue-tracking-tools-t5832.html

Along with bug tracking, you might also be looking for a source code management (or configuration management) tool.  If so, I would suggest TortoiseSVN.  I have used it and love it.  It's free.  http://tortoisesvn.net/

Excel? C'mon people! If you're a professional then use Fogbugz.

Fogbugz is bound to be good software, coming from Joel & Company.

Another decent and free software package is Mantis.
