debug labview executable with crossover cable

I am not very well versed in networking.  I have a LabVIEW application deployed to a PC that is not on a network.  I followed the instructions in THIS KB, and used a crossover cable between my dev. laptop and the target computer.  When I clicked on the refresh button it said that I had given an invalid name or IP address.  I had given the machine name of the target PC (spelling verified).  What now?

If you are using a crossover cable, you should just use the IP address rather than a PC name.  Because you don't have a DNS server on your simple PC to PC network, there is no way for PC #1 to know the name of PC#2 in order to resolve the name to an IP address.
