dataflow vs local variables

I went to an NI Developer Day seminar a week ago and there was one presentation that dealt with the various communication options. The presentation is here. Shared values are discussed as well as the new Network Streams functions.

Perhaps it's just me, but I always have a hard time gaining any value from powerpoints without accompanying presentations.

For example the user events section looks promising, wish I knew what was being explained.

Anywhere else where a webinar like this, or training about these topics, might exist?
