cross reference

Hello Everyone,

I have created a report in the following format:

                  A
                  Text1

                  B
                  Text2

                  C
                  Text3

I have each of these in seperate pages. Now I have to create a cross reference table in the first page as shown below:

                  A
                  B
                  C

Now when I click on each of these, it should take me to the corresponding topic, A, B or C in the actual page. I suppose I have make these headings as bookmarks and then I think I should create a cross reference table with these bookmarks. But I dont know how to create both in LabVIEW. Can any one help?

Hi Vasanth-

What report format are you using (Standard, HTML, Word, or Excel)?

You may be able to use the following toolkit VIs...
For HTML, you can write the raw HTML code for it and use the Append User Formatted HTML to Report.vi.
For Word, use the Word Insert Field.vi.
For Excel, use the Excel Insert Formula.vi.
...but for more advanced purposes, you can figure out what ActiveX functions and properties you would need to access in order to do the desired functionality and then implement it using property and invoke nodes in LabVIEW. You can find some more info on doing so in this discussion forum.

You may also want to check-out the following Developer Zone Tutorial:

Hope this helps!

Hi Droopy,

Thanks for your help. Yes, I can use the Word Insert field.vi but the problem is I have to add the bookmarks too! I mean I have to create them too programatically. But anyway, as you specified, we can use ActiveX to do that I suppose. I will try that. Thanks again.
