create a variable coloured vertical bar

I am trying to create a vertical scroll bar that has a graded colour like the ramp in the guage meter control. I have a custom control which already has one in but whenever you apply the scale to fit page it shifts from its current position and ends up higher than the tank that it is next to (in the control). So i would like to create my own but i cannot find anything suitable to use. Can you help?

Here, try this. It took about 5 minutes to put this together. I pasted a graphic into the background of a slide control and it's done.

BTW: dynamic rescaling tends to shive things around relative to each other. That's why I don't use it a lot.

The color ramp as a property that will allow you to set the marker values and the color. With some interpolation, you can have nice color transistions.
