Did you mean:

convert pixel size to mm

Hmm,

I suspect you might be interested in the distance between the car in front and the following car, correct?

In this case, the conversion required is another.  You need some way of mapping the mm scale generated already to a non-linear distance value which in some way is correlated to the picture.  This will be difficult, and I think if the pictures are not created from a 3D-modelling software (Where you can actually KNOW the distance between the cars and thus set up a kind of calibration curve), it will involve quite a bit of guessing.

hi Ton!

It seems to have a confusion? 74 dpi means that 74 pixels/inch.

so, if I have 100 pixels, it means that   100 [pixels] / 74 [pixels/inch] = 1.35 [inch] = 34.29 mm.

Is it right?

SO, I have problem that, one cell on LabVIEW front panel have an increament 12, what is its unit? the range between 2 positions that I measured is 100 pixels or 100 ....(unit)?

Thank you for your help. please help me with this problem.

Well Tuong you're right, 100 pixels is 34.29 mm.

The twelve pixels you see is a grid which is a help during development, and it can be turned off and altered under toos\options\front panel (or something)

But you should get clear what you want to do it looks like you're building a simulator, in that case you need some info about the position of your camera in relation to the car and some info about the world you're simulating.

i guess if you have read this thread (a year old by the way), that you need to provide more information about what you are trying to do, as well as calibration info from your image recording device.

hiiii!

i have measured the surface area of something in photo shop. that was something like 6000 pixel. how can i convert it to mm^2 ? is there any way to do this? cuz i want the actual unit of surface area and not how many pixel.

thanks alot 🙂

Hi nemidoonam,

have you read ANY of the messages before? Then you wouldn't have to ask here!

Best regards,

Did you notice that this tread is two years old?

You should creat your own question not use a thread that is two years old. You will only get made fun for that.
