control properties change massively

Good morning,

I am using LabVIEW 8.6.1 and I have the following problem. I can't assign properties to every single control that I put on the front panel of a vi. More specifically, I can’t assign different data entry properties to different controls while it is possible to assign different display format properties to different controls. This is true for every vi new or previously created.

I would appreciate if somebody could help me with this.
