change array index control

I am trying to customise my array control, replacing the numeric control with an enumaration ring. The following are the steps I am taking:
1. Select the array - right clisk->advanced->customise
2. Enter customize mode
3. Select the numeric control - Edit->customize control
4. Replace with a numeration control
5. Close the window and replace (save or unsaved)

The control has not been replaced. I have tried this with both LV6.01 and LV7 and I am getting the same result. Can someone please let me know what I am missing?

Just did it in LV7, no problem. I saved both the custom numeric control and the custom array though...perhaps that's the key.

I could not get it to work either. Instead of replacing the index with an enum, you may need to just conver the index with an enum and write code to make the array index.
