cant stop/re-start ni configuration manager service

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a Windows 7 32bit with LabView2014...I used to re-start the NI Configuration Manager service after computer start up, and my PCI-6024E daq card would work...now can't stop the NI Configuration Manager Service...try to stop and re-start and get the Windows Services error: Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Tried turning off McAfee, but no change, same error???

It sounds like in the past your OS may have been taking long enough to start up that the NI Configuration Manager Service timed out and did not start up, which is why you had to re-start it in Services.  One thing you may want to try out is using Automatic (Delayed Start) for both NI Configuration Manager as well as NI Device Loader (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/delay-loading-of-specific-services-windows).  You may also want to check that NI Device Loader is started and running (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0819391CA91B3EB38625731D00024649).

If that doesn't work, what driver are you using for that card, DAQmx? version?  Maybe reinstalling/upgrading may fix the issue if nothing else works.

Cleared out the Ni-Max configuration history, and was able to again start and stop the config service.

Mark your previous reply as a "Solution" -- it will help future Forum readers if they run into the same problem (and you get Two Brownie Points ...).
