brightness control of LCD display of notebook using windows XP

Hi,

I need to adjust brightness of my computer running on WindowsXP. I did some search and found that you can modify it by accessing the deviceIo control. However I don't know how to access it.

The idea is to use a light sensor and feed its digital output (read by my computer) all done Via Labview and use that data to change brightness of LCD screen of my notebook.

Any ideas appreciated.

This is a very interesting idea.  I could not find very much information on doing this in XP but I did find a paper that discusses how to do it in Vista.  I know that this is not exactly what you are looking to do, but I hope that it at least gives you some ideas, or gets you going in the right direction.
