binary file memory usage issue

ok, now i see it too (LV 7.1, WINXP SP4).

i did some tests:

- added File Flush - function after File Write - function: no effect
- removed the File Seek - function after File Write - function: no effect
- created a sub-VI from the contents of the Write File for-loop and placed a request deallocation inside the sub-VI: no effect
- wrote a simple C-App: no memory allocation observed (as expected)

This was reported to R&D (# 3WC9JPNR) and was fixed in LabVIEW 8.2. Here is a link to the current evaluation software download for LabVIEW.
