beginner chart question

When I go to plot my chart, there is a random diagonal line that appears on the screen and I do not know where it is coming from. It does not appear to be a function in the program. Did I connect something wrong? I looked at the examples and found no help.
Thank you.

One possibility is that you are simply plotting a floating signal which will give you a random noise signal or a signal that starts at one value and then ramps up to unknown values. Try placing a real, known signal on the channel in question or simply place a sine wave generator into the chart and verify that your are reading it correctly.

Hi,
what version of Labview are you using?
I got a similar effect in LV6 if I set the background colour of the
chart to be transparent.
The line would join the first point in the chart to the last as the
chart scrolled with time, looked a lot like a "fly back" effect.
Installing the LV6.02 patch solved this I seem to remember.

The only other thing I can think is that your line is simply joining
your points together (this is the default interpolation setting for
ch
arts and can be turned off), if your data points are far enough apart
I could see this would give an unexpected result.

Dave.

I am using LV5.1. The chart is joining 0 and the last point (the first point is not zero). How do I change the settings to get it to stop doing this?

Thank you.
