Working with INRIA Scilab & NI LabVIEW?

Do you have an application in which you are combining INRIA Scilab and NI LabVIEW? As a Product Manager focusing on Signal Processing and Analysis Software at National Instruments, I am interested in your feedback and to learn more about your application.

It’s your chance for publicity and/or to tell us what you like (or dislike) about the interface and help guide future development.

Please post your feedback or application information to this forum or contact me directly at Sam.Shearman@ni.com.

What is INRIA Scilab?

INRIA Scilab is an open-source platform for numerical computation. Freely downloadable from http://www.scilab.org, Scilab offers a text-based language with built-in functions and syntax that simplify numerical computation involving vectors and matrices.

How can I link NI LabVIEW and Scilab?

You can easily invoke your Scilab scripts from your LabVIEW Virtual Instruments by using the NI LabVIEW – Scilab Gateway, software that’s available for free download from the National Instruments website here:  http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/657. The NI LabVIEW - Scilab Gateway software adds a “script node” interface to LabVIEW that you can drag and drop to your LabVIEW VI block diagrams. It’s a rectangular region with a text editor that you can populate with your Scilab Scripts.
