Workaround for Watchdog on NI EVS-1463RT?

According to this KB article (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/2008A521FCE04E47862576D60058BE0F), Watchdog is not supported on the EVS-1463RT.

This is a major concern for a real-time system.  I have posted a product suggestion just now for this.

This post is to find out if anyone knows of any workarounds/alternatives to RT Watchdog?

Hey,

There are no "real" alternatives to a hardware watchdog, but you could toggle one of the available DIO lines. 

Then there are Timer-Relays which you could use to switch off the Power-Supply for the EVS when the DIO line doesn't change it's state anymore.
