WindowsXP Pro(SP2) crashes when running a specific VI in LabVIEW 6.1

Hi,

My WinXP sometimes completely crashes (jump to that familiar "blue dead screen" which shows dumping memory blah blah blah and then reset) when running a specific vi which reads pH values from a pH meter via rs232/usb interface. The same equipments run prefectly on other laptops. My laptop is IBM T42 with an additional 512MB ram. I ever removed that additional memory but got the same result. This never happened before on my laptop. I am getting crazy these couple days because it really hurts to reset my laptop automatically tens times every day. Does anyone have similar experience or a good advice? I have no idea how much IBM can help in this situation.

Regards,
Scottie

Check out what I wrote in this thread.

Have others experience this strange behaviour with XP:
Applications that crash often at first and slowly become better to the point where they stop crashing...

I just got a brand new PC with WinXP & SP2.. Seems ok, except for MS Outlook crashing every day. At first, it would crash every hour. It is now okay up to 2 days. And - oh yeah - I send the report to MS. And wonder if they actually read those things.

I've never seen an OS with this type of behaviour before Win-XP, but from what I hear (and read) I'm not the only one....

.... Linux... hum..... 😉

No need to give bad scores to people sharing similar experiences.
Were you getting problems with XP before you installed SP2? If not, reverting to the previous version may provide a cure.
Many people have had or are still having problems with SP2.

How do you communicate with your instrument? Are there variants other than Win-XP-SP2?
How long did you test the functional version before the problem started occurring?
