Windows updates causing LV2009 to lockup constantly?

To Mike S,

This seems to be a potentially serious problem - at least for some users.

Is National looking for a solution?

I am sorry I have not got back to this.

I have been busy on another project...

I did figure out how to roll back the windows updates and that seems to have fixed it, but I have not really done much to prove it one way or another.

If you have the time and opportunity, start installing the "updates" one at a time and give yourself plenty of time to work with the PC and LabVIEW between each once to see if you can narrow it down to a specific update.

RTSLVU-

Narrowing down which update causes this issue would help us out tremendously!  Has anyone else experienced similar issues with these previous updates?

I have had some intermittent freezes/crashes that seem to have begun when I did the updates. I haven't had a moment, nor did I want to risk screwing up my already shaky laptop with a critical project nearing completion, but if I get the time I will try rolling back and reinstalling. If it is occuring with a Vista machine that will really be annoying, this one is running XP Pro. I love it when Microsoft "fixes" something. I wonder whether it is an interaction with just labVIEW or other programs too. I had a crash last night that when windows "phoned home" later, gave me a  msoft web page describing a video driver crash. I haven't updated my video driver in ..... Never? So ...

If anyone can narrow down which update causes this strange behavior, please post back here.

I've notived that when ANY update is waiting on Windows, windows, adobe, etc, then my VI locks up after a while - sometimes a day sometimes 3 days, and needs to be force quit! I was looking here now for a solution. It's not a particular update, it's any windows update. I suspect it's a memory problem, since the update sits in memory until you install it. I've seen this for about 3 years (LV2010); I always use VISA... dunno if there's a connection?

This thread was last updated almost four years ago. I would encourage you to post your question in a new message - you will likely get a better response from the community. I'd also recommend that you include what version of Windows you're running in the new message to help narrow down the problem.
