Windows Update to Win2000 causes problems with DLLs

Win2k, Labview 6.1
After downloading & installing a Windows Update, and rebooting the PC, cannot run my VI due to:

"A dynamic link library initialization routine failed."
(acutally, several DLLs failed)

any hints? anyone else having problems today?

Are you using any special (third party) DLL's in your application or is your application all LabVIEW?

I have run LabVIEW 6.1 (and 6i in fact) on Windows 2K without problems for many years.... even with all the current updates.

It's the Labview DAQ dll.  I have a 2nd PC with the exact same set up, and I had no problem after installing the Wind Updates this morning.

The very first error msg is: "Invalid Access to Memory location"

When you say the same set up, things aren't often as simple as they seem....
Could it be that the motherboard is different or the BIOS configurations are different?

I once had a major problem on a system after a Windows update introduced a new graphics driver... took quite a while to sort out what had happened. The change to the graphics driver for a Matrox board caused a similar problem. On thier own each worked fine, it was the combinations of hardware and patches the broke the system. I had to uninstall the graphics driver and install a previous revision.

Was it after installing SP4?

I had some similar issues after installing it to accomodate another product..  Since I had no time to investigate, I rolled back the upgrade.  Vi's worked... and I had finished the project..  Never found out why the SP caused problems..

If you find something, let us know what it was..

Thanks,
