Why does the express vi Write Labview Measurement File not allow me to use the comma delimiter.

I don't usually use the express vi's but I thought I would save a bit of time and try the Write Labview Measurement File. It looked OK but my file came out as Tab delimited, not comma as I selected. I set Comma for the delimiter but it always reverts to Tab.

Needless to say I've spent more time trying to figure out whats going on, than I would have done using my normal Write characters to file Smiley Sad

I must have missed something obvious, any ideas?

This seems to be a bug in LabVIEW 7.1. Upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 and it's fixed. 🙂

(Of course you could always convert the express VI to a plain VI and manually (right-click...open front panel) and set the diagram constant for the delimiter.)

Thanks altenbach

That's just what I need. I'll take the cheaper option for now and try out v8 when I get a bit more cash!!

I'm using LabView 2012 and trying to use Write to Measurement File to save data in the lvm format. The problem is that I need to use the comma separation delimiter but I cannot access this option in the configuration. The only option available is the Tabulator. The Comma option is grayed out.

My vi worked just fine in LabView 8.5 but when I open it in 2012 version it forces the use of the Tabulator Delimiter.

Any ideas?

The VI works fine for me.  Can you take a screen shot?  Maybe there's a combination of settings that is causing the disable of the option.

Could it be that your computer has a country setting that uses commas a decimal seperator?

In this case, using them also as column delimiters would create a real mess.

It does not matter what configurations I choose. Comma delimiter is never available.

You did not answer my question about your country setting.

I'm not sure but I also thought about that being the reason.

But, shouldn't it be also unavailable in LabView 8.5?

My country setting is Portuguese.
