Why VISA aliases are not created to visaconf.ini file when application is installed? Old VISA version?

Hi!

I have Labview 7.1 and application builder 7.1.0. I recently updated NI-VISA from 3.1 to 3.3.1, but this update is not passed in application. What I mean is, that when I build application and install it to another computer (no Labview installed) the Visa runtime engine version is still the old 3.1. Is there update for the application builder in which there is NI-VISA 3.3.1? Or is there another way to update application builder libraries and modules so that the Visa runtime engine will be version 3.3.1?

The reason why I need the VISA version 3.3.1 is that when application is installed to a computer, VISA aliases are not created to visaconf.ini file and I hope newer visa version could fix this problem.

Any solution which fixes this VISA alias problem is really appreciated.

Any suggestion how to get the aliases to application? Is there even any way to cheat, for example get list of visa resource names (ASRLx:INSTR) in current computer, check numbers and create a basic drop-down list with COMx etc.????

Take a look at this thread. I posted a VI that will help you out. It searches the computer for COM ports and creates its own aliases that can be used in the program.
