What should I do to make my hardware LabVIEW compatible (driver development)?

I work at an industrial automation products manufacturer. We are designing a new data logger and we would like to make it LabVIEW compatible, so users could use our product from LabVIEW easily. Our device will have serial (RS485) and Ethernet interfaces.

Do we have to develop any kind of driver? Do we have to subscribe in any "partnership" program with NI? Where can I get some information about how to proceed?
