Hi everybody,

I have an application that must be accessed from a remote computer through IE Web browser. Everything seem run fine under Labview 7.1 environment but the remote computer cannot accessed(cannot connect to server) when the application being complied as stand-alone.exe file. Why?

I have enabled Web server option before compling process, also created htm file by using Web publish utility. What left out when compling?

My application have many sub VIs also include some dynamic VIs.

Thanks.

Yes I have found the answer by adding the following to the configuration file

WebServer.Enabled=True
WebServer.RootPath=C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\www

and It work great now.

Hi, Apple James.

Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, are you saying that you're totally unable to access the web page? If so, there are many different explanations for this kind of behavior. I'd like to get some more information from you:

Are you trying to access the web page from the same computer that's running the web server?
Have you restarted LabVIEW since editing the configuration file?
In what directory have you placed the VI on the computer with the web server?
Are you trying to access a VI or a .exe file?

Regarding your question about the web publishing tool, what exactly would you like the user to be able to do from the run-time menu?

Have a nice evening!

Hi, Sarah K.

I have build a exe program that need to running on the customer computer. Before build to exe program, I have tested on VI with web publishing tool to activate the web server and access the web page from another computer, I can see the running VI on computer A from computer B's web page. But, after build the VI to the exe, I cannot access the web page from another computer and the web publishing tool was disappear from the run-time menu (Menu Bar) in exe program.

 Have a nice evening!

Hi, Apple James.

The Web Publishing Tool functions the same way whether it's being called from a running VI (not an executable) or a stopped VI. (In other words, there's no special run-time-only behavior.) It's just a way to create a web page and start the web server. And it's only for creating a web page from a VI, not an executable, which is why the option disappears from the menu in an executable (and is also why you can't access the file remotely on the web server).

If you want to be able to download the .exe file from a web page, you can still place the exe in the root directory when the server is running. (If you're not sure what your root directory is, you can find it in Tools>>Options>>Web Server: Configuration under Root Directory.)

It sounds like your best choice may be to leave your program as a VI and not create an executable at all. Let me know if you have any more problems!

Hello,

The following document dates back to LabVIEW 6.1, but you may be interested in it for accessing LabVIEW-built exe's remotely:
