Waveform Queue Shared Variable

All,

Is it possible to use a waveform queue as a shared variable? I tried using a variant, but it gave me an error on write.

I'm not sure I understand exactly.  Do you mean you want to use a waveform data type with an RT FIFO shared variable?  If so, then yes you can.

Do you have the LabVIEW real time module?

Can you please show me an example of setting this up? I have LabVIEW 8.5 with the RealTime module. I enabled the FIFO option, yet the variable doesn't seem to be buffering when I write to it.

Ken,

Check out the RT FIFO Example on our DeveloperZone website.  You can also get a template of the RT FIFO by selecting File » New... in LabVIEW and then Project » Project from Wizard » RT Project from the window that pops up.  Then select the Continuous Application Architecture with two loops and the rest of the options that you might need.  This should get you going with a template for an RT FIFO program.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,
