Very awkward - indicators turned black

I was thinking of sending someone to Office Depot to pick up some stuff. I have this urge to tell her to pick up an LCD Color Cartridge but I am afraid of the ramifications. Besides I won't be there to see it anyway.

This problem is quite similar to mine (posted elsewhere).  An application that works on many computers shows the background of my string controls on a panel as black with black text instead of white with black text.  I thought that the computer might have something to do with it since I hadn't tested it with a thinkpad.

I did not use a property node to define the text background color and relied on the default background color. The panel was setup to transition from 50% to 0% transparency.

How would you suggest that I force the background color to be my choice?
