Verifying Communication Between Labview and a Plate Reader

Hi.

I am a PhD student at North Carolina State University and for my project I need a plate reader. I am planning on most likely to get the Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader from Biotek. I noticed that the reader uses OLE/ActiveX in their automation guide to work with other softwares to I think control their own software Gen5 and I also noticed that in your NI website a page about Labview working with ActiveX in the link below so sounds promising. Can somebody help verify communication with Labview with this reader that uses OLE/ActiveX? Also what would be the best way to integrate the reader with Labview and what would I need to do? I have the automation guide as well as NI link attached below. Thank you!

LabVIEW definitely can interface with ActiveX/OLE, but it's not 100%.  There's a good chance, I'd say like 80%, that it will work with no problems.  Then another 15% chance that it will mostly work but have weird problems.  Then 5% that it just won't work at all.

This is just my experience trying to get things to work over the last 7 years or so using whatever ActiveX I run across.  I don't think you're going to get direct confirmation that LabVIEW works with this device in particular.  It looks pretty specialized.  If you can, I'd try contacting the vendor/manufacturer to see if you can get any guarantees about it working with LabVIEW.

Ok. Thank you. Do you have any advice on how to start the integration with Labview having no experience? Also the manufacturer said they can't do any integration on their side (it would have to be all on our side). Does the manufacturer have to supply us with anything in order to make the integration possible? I guess I can ask about the guarantee. Also is there a way to contact Labview themselves? I called Labview and they pointed me to the forum and said any help that I would get from Labview directly over the phone I would have to pay money? Thank you!
