VISA serial buffer problem on MAC still unresolved!

Hi all again,

Thanks for the responses so far, your sugestions were already taken into account (I can't change anything about instruments handshaking though, it does not support this feature other programs (non-LV) work without a problem) but I checked, double checked and triple checked them again.

This is a folow up on a problem encountered when using VISA for serial communications on MAC.

The weird thing is that the VI works on a windows platform (where the FIFO properties should be set for large buffers, but this option is not available on the MAC OS as far as I know). Further the VI with the same functionality and respective settings using the old serial VIs in LV works perfectly, this sugge
sts that the driver on MAC (.aIN and .aOUT) does work correctly but I do not know if the VISA functions use these or another set. Also other non-LV programs running on the mac for our instrument work without problems.

For me it is starting to look like a bug in VISA (I use LV6.0.2).
PLEASE TELL ME IT IS NOT SO...

Sorry to tell you, but yes VISA is buggy.

We contacted NI about this both locally and in the US in autumn 1999. We got some responses but never a fix.

We solved the problem our self by
a) implementing the functionality in C
b) using the older serial VI's
