Place the VISA Open in a diagram in LV 5.0 and save it, close LV 5.0. Open LV 6.0, then open the saved vi, and you will see the VISA Open in the diagram. However, upon doing this i noticed that OLD has been added to the icon, so i'm not sure if it still works or not. Why not use the VISA Open in LV 6.0?...it can be found in Functions palette>Instrument I/O>VISA>VISA Advanced.
The VISA Open is a LabVIEW primitive rather than a normal VI. When you open a VI in LabVIEW 6 that was created in LabVIEW 5 you will see the Old on the VISA open. You can update it to the current VISA open by right clicking on it and selecting replace. From there you can navigate to the VISA open in the Instrument I/O->VISA->VISA Advanced palette.

In most cases, the VISA Open function is no longer needed in LV6. The VISA Read/Write functions have their own built-in "VISA Open" capablility and will open sessions as needed when called. If you want to use LV5 code that has the old style VISA open in it (with the word OLD on it), bring the code into LV6, then right-click on the "OLD" open function and replace it with the new LV6 style open function.
