VI hangs-up

I am reading two bytes at 30 Hz with the GPIB read function and
converting it into a double floating point number I can read in a
digital display on the front panel.

Most of the time the VI has no problem but, once in a while the display
stops updating. When I move the mouse a little it begins to update
again. I am using LV4.1 on a Pentium Pro.

I have also noticed changing the color of the digital display can have a
huge impact on the update rate.

I am currently using the default digital display and have even tried
adjusting my signal rep rate down to 1 Hz but, I occasionally still see
the display locking-up.

Anyone have a solution or explanation?

Doug,
Been awhile since I used 4.1 but I do not remember any problems on th
is
I would suggest that you see if there is an updated driver for your display.

This sounds like it could be a problem.

Also you might look at whatever you are reading from.
It is possible that the instrument can not respond that often.
Most of the time if there is nothing to read or the instrument is
not ready, then the GPIB will wait (till it times out) for something
to come back out.

Hope you get somewhere.
