VI Logger Task Error...

Hello friends..!

I am new using NI products and may be the answer to my question is easy, but I really need it..!

I am trying to use VI Logger with USB6009 DAQ device and everything looks ok along the steps to crate the Task, (test works well showing the signal I am effectively applying to the module), BUT when I try to run the task, I always get this message:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VI Logger Execution Error
Could not Start Task: "name of task"
Error 4501 occurred at an unidentified location
Possible Reason(s):

VI Logger task is already running. If a previous task run crashed, reset the task to clear all register.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last line of the message seems to have sense, but I was unable to find the way to "reset the task".

I would appreciate if someone help me!

Thanks in advance

Hi AMR-

This problem is most likely seen in versions of VI Logger 2.0 when LabVIEW 8.0 (or any device driver that installs MAX 4.0) is installed.  To correct the problem you will need VI Logger 2.0.1.  This is the "VI Logger Lite" download, so you will need to install the Lite version and then activate with your serial number.  Please give this a try and let me know if you run into any other problems.

Hopefully this helps-

I got a related (but worse it seems) problem.

Today I got my USB-6008 DAQ device (nice looking I should say) and I have used MAX to test it and everything is fine including all the tests found in the Test Panel.
The problem is with VI Logger Lite. (I have V2.0.1 already installed by the way). When I try to create a new task and I choose "Using NI-DAQmx" then MAX either hangs forever (I need to use the tast manager to kill the application) or gives me one of those excecution errors thrown by windows asking me if I want to report the problem or not, then MAX just gets shut down.

I have tried unisntalling/reinstalling VI Logger Lite V2.0.1 but that has not helped.
I have also rebooted my PC several times while trying to find out the source of this problem.

By the way, I have the following versions of NI's SW installed (in case that matters)
  • LabView Run-Time 7.1
  • LabView Run-Time 8.0
  • Measurement & Automation Explorer  4.0.0.3010
  • Measurement Studio for VS2003 7.1
  • NI-DAQmx 8.0.0f1
  • NI-PAL 1.10.0f0
  • NI-USI 1.0.2
  • VI Logger 2.0.1

Is there any advice anybody can offer?

Thanks in advance.

Howard:

Sincerely, I can understand your exact frustration...

This is not an optimistic message, and I am sorry for that, but my experience with VI Logger has been the exact opposite of what I initially expected from National Instruments... And expensive, by the way...!

However, I don't consider the hardware (6009) is bad... I am trying to figure out what is the prtocol it uses in order to drive it from an application developed by me and based in a microcontroller with USB interface...

I wish you better results

Alex

Hi Howard-

It sounds like you are running into an inexplicable problem with creating tasks in VI Logger.  Are you able to create NI-DAQmx Tasks under Data Neighborhood?  This can be done by right-clicking (in MAX) and choosing Create New>>NI-DAQmx Task.  Would it be possible to test on another computer and see if you can replicate the problem there?

If you see a crash screen again, please do generate an error report and send it to NI as this will make it much easier to diagnose the problem.

Tim,

Got the same 4501 error, applied the same solution, it worked for me.

Thanks,

I am trying to use a USB-6009 and a cRIO-9211 via USB.  Both worked in the past with VI-Logger on this computer.  But when I hooked everything back up, I started getting the Error 4501 exactly as reported at the beginning of this thread.  I had installed a USB-8451 (I2C interface) recently, and figured it must have put new stuff on the computer that broke VI-Logger.  So I downloaded 2.0.1 as suggested and installed it.

Now I cannot do anything.  My NI-DAQmx tasks in MAX now all have big red X's and when I try to test a task that worked 1 hour ago, I get "Error -89130 occurred at DAQ Assistant".  At least before, it found the USB devices and could run the task test mode. This is driving me nuts.  By now I could have recorded the test results on paper and been finished.  Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

James
