Using DAQ Assistant with NI 9401

Hi,

DAQ assistant is used to receive and send digital data through any line of the port in NI 9401 - port0/line0 as input and port0/line7 as output.

The change in the pins is not visible on the indicator in LabView (24 Q1 64-bit) or outside on an oscilloscope. May i know, in detail, how to configure the lower nibble as input and upper nibble as output through the DAQ assistant ? Also, am i missing anything here ?
