Use DAQCard 1200 with LabVIEW 2009

Hi, I have a DAQCard 1200 and LabVIEW 2009. Can I use this device with this version of Labview? Is there anyway to make it work? Thanks.

it's not the LabVIEW version that's important, it's the DAQ driver version that counts!

Googling for "daqcard1200 daqmx" will result in this page on 1st place. You're restricted to an older version of TraditionalDAQ running on WinXP...

Thanks for your reply. I am using Win XP. I actually downloaded and installed NI-DAQ 6.9.3. Then I installed Labview 2009. However, I realised that there is no DAQ Assistant Express VI on the Input palette. Then I thought maybe I should install the Driver DVD too, but it says that the driver is not for DAQCard 1200. I checked online and found out that NI-DAQmx does not support DAQCard 1200. Is there anyway to solve this problem? Thanks.

there's a difference between DAQmx and TraditionalDAQ!

Installing NI-DAQ6.9.3 is ok as provided in that KB entry linked above.

But: you will not find any DAQmx features like that "DAQ Assistent"! (Btw. why do you insist on using ExpressVIs?)

You have to use TraditionalDAQ functions instead. (There should be some examples too...)

Yes, DAQmx does not support your DAQCard1200. But TraditionalDAQ6.9.3 will do...

Oh, so you mean that Traditional DAQ is another type of DAQmx? All I need to do now is to download and install TraditionalDAQ6.9.3? So after I install this thing, I can use my DAQCard 1200 with Labview 2009?

I want to use Express VI because I am still learning how to use Labview 2009 from the tutorial. Currently I am learning on how to acquire data and communicate with instrument. So I am stuck now at this step because I can't seem to find the "DAQ Assistant" under "Input" palette.

Sorry If I am asking stupid questions, because I am really new to all these.

You can't learn those DAQ basics because you don't have ExpressVIs available? I don't get that point...

The image on the above is one of the instruction in the tutorial. However, when I look at my Input palette, there is no "DAQ Assistant".

as I already wrote before: "DAQ Assistent" is a DAQmx feature!

It's not available when you installed TraditionalDAQ6.9.3 (aka NI-DAQ6.9.3)!

Use the example finder in LabVIEW help menu to go through a lot of examples, that don't need any ExpressVIs.

When your tutorial insists on using ExpressVIs then it's a bad tutorial (IMHO)...
