Update GPS Sentences

Only now looked at your code and know what you are missing: Loops keep running until you stop them and in that time they will only read controls INSIDE the loop. You could see what your program is doing by using highlight execution (light bulb on block diagram menu bar). Learn a little more about while loops: there is excellent documentation and examples on this website and inside labview.

Hi, I did tried your example in my GPS by connecting the LATs and the LONs together. But it didn't work out quite right. I've already posted my program earlier. My program includes the earlier example which you had provided me.

Can you help me have a look where is my error?

Thanks a million

Okay, I put that sub-vi in your code, but didn't try it out. Something like this should work for you.

wow, that is a lot of stars! thanks all.

I accidently posted one message multiple times, because I didn't see that they moved to a second page inside the thread.

Hi Aart-Jan,

do you have any good GPS programs on hand? Coz I'll like to understand more on the GPS stuff. Any GPS program will do, from the programs I hope to improve my Labview programming.

Thanks expert!!

Hello aartjan and others,

I'm looking for a vi that would do something of the same thing I guess. I'd like to find or come up with a vi that would read the Lat and Long coordinates from my GPS and display them on the front panel. And have these coordinates saved also. I'm using a USB Garmin GPS 18. Bu tI have access to an Garmin 76S serial port GPS, but the USB GPS would be used in my application. I have found the older Garmin 45 vi posted on this board, but cannot make much sense of it and I'm not sure if it would work for other GPS units or not.

Any help you could provide me with how to read the coordinates from my GPS unit would be most appreciated. I'm using Labview 7 Express (7.0 not 7.1).

Thanks for any help or advice...
Using Labview 7.0 and 2010 SP1 with Windows XP and 7.

As far as I know, the garmin 18 usb does NOT support NMEA. This is a real nasty development taking place at Garmin, trying to keep control on how people use their products. I think it only supports the GARMIN protocol. This is unlike the serial 18 model (which doesn't have the cool 1 cable configuration).
