time delay for boulen

i am trying to turn a boulen true on an interval of 5 seconds and when the boulen is true have it remain true from 2 seconds. i have tried using the hardware clock to aquire a time value and evaluate it and act accordingly but i have not been able to repeat the cycle more than once and also i have not been able to keep the boulen to stay true any longer than one second. actually the time interval and between cycles doesn't matter as long as i can varry the value. and the same for the length of time that the boulen remains true. if anyone has a suggestion that would be great.

P.S. i am using LabVIEW 7.0 primarally but i also have LabVIEW 6.0i

thanks,
Daniel

Here is a very simple VI that just continuously cycles a Boolean indicator on and off for user specified intervals. It's just a shift register with a case statement and a time delay in each case. If you need something else, provide some more details or attach your code that you're working on.

Here are two of the simplest examples. Both have disadvantages, but they should be accurate to within a few millseconds.
It sound to me like you should learn more about LV. I suggest you start with the LabVIEW user manual. Also, try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here is one you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide.
