Understanding Serial to USB Conversion

Hi,

I have a Micrometer with serial interface and I am trying to use Labview to read data from it.

After a lot of  coffe, I have managed to communicate with the device using a Serial to USB conversor, when communicating directly to the serial port I managed to get only random data, and by random I mean really random.

Attached I am sending the VI I am using to communicate with the Micrometer and the User Manual of the Conversor (just to ilustrate it).

Does anyone have a clue of what is going on?

Gabriel,

If the existing vi is not generating any errors, then I'm guessing that you have the USB to serial converter installed properly.  What make and model micrometer are you using?  Also, if the micrometer has several communication modes, which one are you trying to use?
