I have trouble believing this one, but here are the steps to reproduce it (in LV 2011 at least):
Create a new VI.
Create a Numeric control (or whatever you fancy).
Right-click the control and make a typedef out of it (don't bother saving it, that won't change anythign to the result).
Now (and only now), create a reference to the control. It appears on the diagram.
Right-click the control and try to Find>> the reference. Good luck! Only "Terminal" and "All Instances" are available. Instances are different from references. They are basically constants, other controls, indicators, etc, connected to the typedef.
You can create another control and as long as you don't make a typedef out of it, you can right-click on it to find its references (assuming you have created some, of course). And of course, you can find references from the Terminal and Property Nodes too. Again, no such luck with a typedef though.
Please confirm (or not).
Note: it is kind of a follow-up to this thread, if I may say...

I can confirm the behavior. It appears to be new to LV 2011. This is quite the annoying bug.
You can't find references from the control/indicator. You can't find it from the terminal. You CAN find it from a local variable.

Yeah, or trying to remember where the hell you dropped a reference to the control a couple of weeks ago...

I agree. I see it on the Mac. It was not in LV 2010, although there you need to use Customize control to make it a typedef. Using Customize control rather than the pop-up menu makes no difference in LV 2011. I agree that this is a bug.

Hello X.
I was able to reproduced this bug too. This was reported to R&D (#320483) for further investigation.
Thanks for the feedback!
