Ugly yellow star in the mail

It is a rather odd item, one that one of my associates looked at and said "wow, a roach clip" (for those unfamiliar, wikipedia it). My star was yellow, hope that doesn't indicate status. As to other excessive "stuff" do the credit card companies actually think that having a fake credit card in their advert mails will cause us to be more likely to apply. I usually remove anything that shows who it was sent to (me) and stuff it in the postage paid return envelope of one of the other credit card companies. I have friends that work for the Post Office, want to keep them working 😉   As to excessive, NI continues to acknowledge my online, credit card, software license renewals with a FedEX next day (or second day) package. Gotta be cheaper ways. Don't need a whole FedEx envelope (has been a box on occasion) to send me a receipt! Oh well! As one said, not many companies acknowledge their forum contributors, although one has to wonder who thought of this one. Having lots of NI trinkets dating back to 1992 or so I add this to my LabVIEW "8 ball", T shirts, cups, etc.

I got mine yesterday and was wondering if there was a topic about this.  I thought it was cool to get something from NI with the forums connection and all, since this was my first time getting any type of gift for the forums.  Though I was puzzled by what exactly I would use it for, which right now is really nothing.  But it was still cool to get.  A thank you to whoever sent them out!

Ok, OK Uncle. I give up. People like their stars. I don't understand it in the least, but that's the way it goes. I just wish there was a way to opt of of getting junk that's going straight to the trash.

Dear NI,
The next time you re-vamp the "Preferences" section of "My Personal Profile", please make "Receive free dust-collectors" optional...  or, instead, just give me some "NI credits" that I can accumulate and eventually cash-in - for a USB Toaster maybe?

Cheers!

Am I the only soul who has absloutely NOTHING from NI? No screwdriver,cup,pencil... not even a paper clip.  But I did get a bill, several times!  I'm not asking for something I haven't earned, but the screwdriver would come in handy.  NI, if george does't want his stuff, redirect it to me!!Smiley Very Happy

I too have nothing from LabVIEW, though I have only been using it for 18 months now...

Chris, I feel the same as you.  In due time I hope I'll receive a second hand token of appreciation from somebody who didn't want it to begin with. Smiley Happy

Hi George,

Look at it as you would the neck-tie you get every year from that relative.

It is the thought that matters.

BTW: I could use another heat sink. Smiley Tongue I wonder if I talk nice, will they send me one?

And another thing....

speaking only for myself....

Thank you All for helping with the Exchange!

It is the "multitude of cousellors" that makes this virtual meeting place such a wonderful source of information, inspriration, and entertainment.

While the engineers at NI brilliant, the marketing dept is even smarter. Smiley Wink

Make them pay quite handsomely for our product and send them a $0.50 trinket and they'll be devoted forever. Amazing how that works.

BTW, I don't get ties at Christmas because my relatives know I won't wear them.

OK, I've made enough enemies on this thread. Time to get back to work.
