USB2000+ on labview 7.1

Hi, im am very new to labview so my apologies up front for any stupid questions. I use Labview ( 7.1) with an ocean optics usb2000 and it work fine. However i have just purchased a usb2000+ but i cant get lanbiew to recognise it. any ideas?  thanks in advance Paul

Is your device shown up in max?

Is ur device got enumerated in device manager?

Are you getting any error messages?

Please post in bit detail about    What is your exact problem?

Hi, when i try to run L3 configurator my new usb2000+ does not show up. When i plug in the usb2000+ windows will recognise and installs the driver and i can seen the usb2000+ in device manager under ' ocean optics device ' (its using ezusb.sys as the driver which may be the problem). I have a folder from oceanoptics with usb2000+ specific drivers in there but i think the .inf files are installing ezusb.sys instead. Does this make any sense?

ps..sorry, What is MAX ?

MAX means meassurement and automation explorer which will lists all the NI - USB devices connected to the system.

But i think ur device won't get displayed in MAX.

It may not be the problem. But still try updating the device with that specific drivers.

Hi,

I am a research student. I am new to USB 2000+ spectrometer and know a very little about LABVIEW. We just purchased the USB 2000+ spectrometer for measuring the temperature of the burning coal particle. I have already used LABVIEW with a PHOTOMULTIPLIER TUBE (PMT) to get the burning history of coal particles(labview program monitors the radiation emitted by the particle with time. i.e energy vs time). The LABVIEW program is trigerred by a particle detector(semiconductor device). When the particle crosses a particular point, it gives a signal which initiates data aquisition by LABVIEW. Now the event and the happening are the same. Instead of PMT, I am trying to use the USB2000+ spectrometer to get the particle temperature measurement. I want to trigger the spectrometer using the same detector which trigger the LABVIEW program. Can anyone help me with this? I read the manual and found different triggering options. Please someone let me know which is the best way to trigger the spectrometer with the particle detector?

Hi,

This is probably something that you are best off contacting Ocean Optics about.  I have been looking through the manuals for this (http://www.oceanoptics.com/technical/external-triggering.pdf and http://www.oceanoptics.com/technical/USB2000+%20Operating%20Instructions.pdf) but there is no mention in there about the software side of things other than their software suites.  To program this in LabVIEW is going to depend a lot on the driver you are using as well.

Also in future could you create new questions on new threads.  This way if it goes unanswered then it will generate a service request with National Instruments for your region.  In this case this has been picked up only because the original post had generated a service request so we were notified of a new post but in another case it may have been missed and we would not want you to go without support!
