USB?

I still don't understand what you are trying to do. Is this USB device from NI? If the device came with a driver and you installed it, why do you need the vendor ID and manufacturer ID? If the device is not from NI, does it show up in Windows Device Mangager? If it does, you should be able to use the driver that came with it.

If you want to access the USB device through NI Visa, one way is to follow the instructions here:
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4478 (which you might have already gone through)
I guess you need to replace the installed driver with the one you created with driver wizard.

Another way to access the USB device could be to use the dll functions that probably comes with the driver. For this you need to know/find out the parameters for different functions available.

Anyway what does your USB device do ?

Hi,

one way to communicate with your USB port is enabling it in serial mode where you actually define the USB port as an additional COM port. For that you need to install FTDI and then the VISA will see it as COM# and you will be able to talk to your device with typical serial boud rates.

In that case see http://www.ftdichip.com/ and run the FTDI in the following manner:

Connect the USB cable to the Test Platform and the other end to the USB port on the PC. The PC will find new hardware and the driver installation window should pop up.
(i). Ensure the box "Search for a suitable driver for my device" is ticked and click "Next>".
(ii). Ensure only the box "Specify a location" is ticked and click "Next>".
(iii). Browse to the file "taurus_ftdibus.inf". Click "Open" and follow the instructions.
(iv). The PC will ask for the serial port drivers. Browse to the same directory as in 4(iii) and click "Open" and follow the instructions.
(v). When complete the USB drivers should be installed.

Any how other USB interractions exist depends upon your application needs.

You still don't seem to understand. If you have a driver for the device, you should be using that. Usually with a Call Library Function Node. The only time you want to use VISA is when you have very detailed information from the vendor on low level communication. Do you have that? You have finally provided the manufacturer. What type of device is it? If you really want help, please provide some details.

This thread has taken a surreal turn.

To borrow a phrase from one of my favorite television shows, I don't know what the frack you want.

The USB controller is on the motherboard of your pc. Is this really what you want to communicate to or do you want to communicate to a USB device that you plug into the pc? I may be able to help if it is a device that you plug into the pc. If it's a component on the pc motherboard without a device plugged, I would not know what to do. Why do you need to do this?

Every couple of days you post back with more confusing or conflicting information. The people who answer questions have better things to do than to try to read your mind. Why can't you simply provide the type of details that we are asking for.

What you really need to do here is to describe in detail what is your application. Sketch it even if it helps. This will eliminate alot of mislead talk that was done here  in forum.

If you have a device plugged to your PC via the USB and you want to communicate with it then describe your communication type: control only?data? what data, etc...

Depends on the type of your communication it would be possible to see whether you are trying to use a USB just as another matter of communication with the PC (where serial interface is well enough for you) or really to explore the rates of typical USB connections.
