Thermatron Chamber Control

We have a few Thermatron chambers I'd like to interface with and control with Labview. Just wondering if anyone has written any code that has successfully done that.

Thanks in advance

Yes, I have. It's quite simple. It was a few years ago but I seem to remember they are basic text commands sent to/from your serial port to the chamber using the Instrument I/O - serial vi's. You'll need to set up your VISA serial port, VISA read or VISA write and Visa close. Your manual should list all the commands and responses. If you want examples of code that might take some time while I dig through my code archives.

I'd be gratefull if you could find the time to pull out some code for me. That would at least give me a proven starting point...Thanks!

This is a basic 7800 Thermotron controller interface. The command set is from the manual. I don't know the baud rate, etc. but it should be the same. This should get you started.

Does anyone have anything developed for a Thermotron 8825 controller that will run under Labview 8 ?

The Thermotron interface usually does not change so what was given will most likely work. It is just simple text commands so it is extremely easy to code.

We have several Thermotron environmental chambers that we control with LabView / TestStand code.  What interface capability do you have?  We use GPIB entirely here.....

Jim;

You probibly didn't notice but this is a 2-year old thread. It would probibly be better if you started a new one as it is highly unlikely that any of the original participents are still monitoring the thread.

You're right, I failed to note the long-ago date on the thread.  Will have to watch that in the future, time is precious :?)

The chamber may have one or both of these interfaces:  RS232 and/or GPIB.

Which one do you have?  I did notice that you mention that most of your instruments have GPIB, which is quite common.
