Text Report problem - Member not found

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

The problem I am having is very similar to this Knowledge base entry: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/2FCAAF080951FCAB86256982007AA16C except I am experiencing it on the target machine with no development environment. I did install the Labview 7.1.1 runtime first, then I needed to also run some old 5.1.1 code so I installed the 5.1.1 runtime engine. I am now not able to print, I get the following error: Member not found in Set Report Margins.vi -> easy text Report.vi ->printdata.vi ......

Does anyone know how to fix this without using the development environment?

Thanks,

Hi Howard Spec,

Thanks for your post and I can see that you've not received any support as yet!

From my understanding there is a problem in the Windows Registry where LabVIEW is looking for a Registry Key that has the wrong information. This causes NI Reports to fail.

Why do you only want to fix it not using the development environment?

However, the link you provided has a solution vi control panel.

I could also suggest doing a fresh installation, this includes registory edits, please see previous forum post.

Let me know what you think,

Hi Hillman,

Thanks for the help!

I need to fix this on a machine that is in our production department that does not have the development environment installed (only runtime engines 5.1 & 7.1.1). So I hope that I can remove 7.1.1 runtime, make registry cleanup, and then reinstal 7.1.1.  Will this fix the problem for both runtimes?

Thanks,

Howard

Hi Howard,

Thanks for the reply.

This seems a bit of grey area.. at least to me it is!

I would suggest re-installing both runtime engines, 5.1 first.

I would recommend doing the registry cleanup - MsiBlast etc

If no joy, I will look into your issue some more.

Hi Howard,

So that was uninstall, 5.1.

Does Ni Reports work? yes -> then install 7.1.

Ni Report work? - yes - great!

no to either steps 😞 we'll have another look.

Hillman, I seem to have fixed the print problem. This is what I did:

1. From Add/Remove I uninstalled NI-Report

2. From \Shared I removed the NI-Reports directory

3. I checked the registry but there was no NI-Reports folder to delete - so no change here

4. I performed a repair on the 7.1.1 run time engine. Printing from 5.1 seems OK now. I still have more work to do on my new 7.1.1 application, so if I see more problems you may hear from me again.

 Thanks again,

Howard
