System Integration

"Currently, there is an existing system that monitor the number of visitors entering and exiting the tent at any one time. The tent is designed with one entrance and one exit to ensure that visitors walk pass all exhibits displayed in the tent. A sensor is installed at each entrance and exit at both ends of the tent to count the number of visitors entering and exiting. Once the number of visitors reached the maximum, the display at the entrance will show the message “Full House” and a barrier will be lowered to stop visitor from entering. The barrier will be lifted once the number of visitors fall below 500 and the display at the entrance will show the message “Welcome”. The system is connected to the machine through a local Ethernet network."

  • How is the RNG connected with your system of a "tent with input/output counters"?
  • What is showing an error?
  • Which error do you encounter?
  • What's the problem to read those monitoring system values?
  • What exactly is your task?
Best regards,

Sounds like homework. We're happy to "help" not "do". Show us where you're stuck.

I can't see any "loop".

You need to start with some very basic LabVIEW tutorials, and if this is part of a course, check your class notes.

Wiring the iteration Terminal to a shift register makes no sense and within 100ms, both of your blue indicators show the same value, ever increasing., seems boring.

You need two door sensors, one for the entrance and one for the exit. In your case this could be simulated with two latch action buttons. A pulse in the entrance will increment the room count and and pulse on the exit will decrement the room count but not go below zero. When the count is 500, the door should be closed, right? That could be shown by e.g. a red LED.

In this Simulation, it seems (to me) that you have the following variables:

  • A Tent, with one Entrance and one Exit, that can contain a certain number "V" of visitors.
    • The Tent starts with 0 Visitors, and can accommodate a max "M" (>500) visitors.
  • When a Visitor enters the Tent, V increases by one.  When a Visitor leaves the Tent, V decreases by 1.
  • The Entrance is closed if V = M.  It re-opens again if V = 500.
  • Each visitor stays inside the tent, moving from Entrance to Exit and spending some finite (>0, <max time, say 1 hour, inside the tent before exiting.
  • Visitors enter "individually" (meaning "one at a time") through some process not specified.  For example, you can say they enter one per minute, or some other rule you make up).
  • Did you notice that there is no real "stopping" condition to this problem?  Once this show is opened, what makes it ever stop?  You can "earn extra credit from Professor Bob" if you add "The entrance opens at 9 and closes as 4, and everyone has to exit by 5".

I think this exercise is designed to teach you something about Arrays.  What seems to be the Array Element?  What causes the Array to grow in size?  What causes the Array to decrease in size?  What might cause the value of each Array element to change?  What (as the owner of this Marvelous Tent) is of most interest to you?
