Strange web-based installer behaviour (LabVIEW 2015 SP1 platform 32bit)

Hello,

 

I wonder if others had similar experience with the web-based installer. I selected the required modules in the beginning, and I started the pretty long and boring download process (total size to download is 25136 MB) 🙂 The problems which I have encountered:

  1. During the download often the web-based installer dialog window "starts to hang": a click on the "Pause" and after on the "Resume" button helps (and no, not my internet access is the problem, I am connecting to a 1GB university line and I do not see any problem with using internet browsers for example).
  2. After reaching 99% of total download, the process seems to slow down to a kind of level it seems like the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise... 🙂 See the two screenshot, time between them was 10 minutes...pfff...
  3. I tried to "speed up" the process from this state, so I tried the "Pause/Resume" sequence again. Effect: every time I did this sequence, the percentage of the indicator (and so the data) dropped! So first it went from 99% to 95% or so, after second attempt it went down to 88% 😄 Whaaat? Smiley LOL
  4. Right now I try to leave it for a longer time, and do not play any more with the Pause button...lets see what happens...

EDIT:

 

The installer reached the 100%, hmm, actually even better, 25165/25136 --> 100.11 % !! 😄

It is still showing the same dialog now for some time, but I will not touch it... if I was at home, I would open a beer at this point...

LabVIEW 2015 Installer goes to 140%

Good to know! 🙂 I started the download process at around 2pm, and I left the lab at 6:30pm. It was showing 103% ...

I hope it will finish it by tomorrow...

 

edit: checked the other post. I have Signal Express too marked to install...however I do not know if it causes this...? the more crazy thing is the % drop when temporary pausing the downloader...some kind of buffer emptied? 🙂

I came to my lab today, and I have found the laptop in a restarted state (i was silly and forgot to disable windows autoupdate after win install). The LabVIEW web-based installer download dialog window of course was gone... I have restarted the process, and I marked the same target folder as download location. Now the installer is showing 23% ... I am getting be pissed...

 

Is there a place at ni.com where I can download the Developer Suite for Research with LabVIEW version 2015? Our research institute server only has LV2014 iso files. So can I download somewhere ALL the iso files for LAbVIEW and its modules?

Thanks for help, I might also contact our IT dept to tell them they should get the LV2015 iso files since we have licence...

 

edit: after a few minutes the downloader jumped to 97%, lets see whether I reach the 140% or not today 😄

Ok, in my case the installer finished at 116% 😄

Now validating installer files...finally...

Now I got double pissed Smiley Mad  So I have to download separately the device drivers... 😞

My first meet with this "web-installer" is not a success story...

Edit: Oops! - Posted too soon!

 

Excellent!

 

I'm going to install 2015 on my desktop soon so I'll report my results.

(Previous install was in a VM where disk space was a big concern.)
