Simple question about USB external controller

Hi,

I'm new to Labview and am having a hard time with the hardware interfaces.
I have a National Instruments USB external controller GPIB-USB-B and I
have Labview. Does the controller require a driver and if so, where can I
get the driver? I'm trying to talk with an Agilent scope and I'm
wondering if I need anything besides the Agilent scope driver and Labview
software (I'm using a notebook hence my need for a USB external
controller).

Thanks in advance for any help. If you could cc my e-mail address as well
that would be great.

Thanks,
Supriyo

Supriyo,

You will need to install GPIB and VISA software. This is avaialable on your LabVIEW CD. You should also install MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer.)

As you are new to LabVIEW, you can probably get some assistance from your local sales rep. I also suggest that you consider taking some courses, and get familiar with NI's support resources (such as this forum, and ni.com/ask.)

Once you have those elements installed you will be able to talk to your instrument. Be sure to open MAX and scan for GPIB instruments to test things out before moving back to LabVIEW.
