Hello,
I developped a set of useful VIs (including some shell VIs) for my projets
Those VIs are distributed with vipm, to be reachable in a LabVIEW palette
I generally dropped those shell VIs in my LV projets by finding them with the quick drop window
I tried to do this in LV2017, but there is an issue with shell VIs and quick drop :
- When I drop a shell VI from the palette, I get the content of the shell VI in my VI [OK]
- When I drop the same shell VI with the quick drop, I get the containing VI in my VI [FAIL]
This behavior removes the interest of using shell VI in LV2017...
Is this an issue of LV2017, or am I missing something ?
Thanks for you replies !

Hi SaphirMountainClimber,
I've just tested it in LV 2017 and 2018 and it worked fine for me both in the palette and as a quick drop. I did not use VIPM though, I just saved the VI in user.lib.
I used those the steps in this tutorial to do it (with the exception of the Merge VI option which is now called Place VI Contents):

Are the steps the same with VIPM ?

Thanks for your reply Thomas,
From what I remember, the steps are very similar with VIPM.
I'll have a look to see if something is wrong on my side (but there should not...)

If you want to compare with another shell VI, I also tested with STM templates as it is available on the VIPM.
