Serial port not recognize

Hi Guys

I am trying to read and write through the serial port, it give the error 

Error -1073807360 occurred at Property Node (arg 1) in VISA Configure Serial Port (Instr).vi->RS232.vi

I finally find the problem is that the serial port is not recgonized by labview.( i reinstall the driver several times. both from CD and internet)

Does anyone know how to solve it.

Go to Windows Device manager and see if the ports are showing problems there.  Go to Hyperterminal and see if that is capable of opening up the serial port.

I checked windows device manager, there is nothing unusual. I checked the hyperterminal, they works fine as well.

What model of NI serial card do you have? Are all the serial devices listed the same type of NI card? What version of NI-VISA? What exactly do you see from the VISA dropdown menu and which port are you selecting?
