Serial interface communication and Labview 8.2

Hi. I'm Sorin.
I have a Programmable Controller from FATEK with RTD module for measure temperatures. It have an USB/rs-232 port to communicate with PC. I can see the temperatures in ladder program, and I know all is working fine here.
I also want to see somehow those temperatures in Labview 8.2. I installed also NI-Serial 3.3,  MAX 4.3,  NI-VISA 4.2, because I have a converter here (USB/RS232) in Programmable Controller included.
In Device Manager in Win XP sp2, Windows assigns COM3 to this converter and I see it installed with no problem (I installed a driver from FATEK before).
But in MAX 4.3 i see something strange: COM3(COM1) with a problem. I have a screen shot down here.
I run some exemples with serial interface and nothing is working. Also from your site.
There is no exemple to detect COM3 properly.
In Hyperterminal from Windows I can't see a think. (i know the serial parameters from Ladder program- auto detect)
So, my questions are:
1. What is wrong with COM3 in MAX ? Should I install something else ?
2. I'm not expert in serial communications and I want to know, is there any exemple or a tutorial for Labview with serial communication ? How to programm ?

This is a visa issue mostly (the part that tells me this is that none of your com ports are showing up right)

The reason it says com3(com1) is because it's com1, renamed to com3.  It's not really com3.  Change that back, and try re-installing VISA.  I believe that's what fixed it for me.  You should see in that area com1, com2 and com3 (in hyperterminal you should see all those ports, as well)
