Yes this is annoying.
Even if the local time is shown on the scale, the main ticks still are set
for "even" values of GMT time. That means for exemple that if 12pm GMT is on
your scale, it will be set as a main tick on your ET scale. Actually you
seem to be in GMT-4 time zone (ET + Daylight saving time) thus 8am (12pm
GMT) and 8pm (12am GMT) will be preferrably set as main ticks.
