Hi group, my customer has a SCXI-1001 chassis, actually three cases combined and one DAQ device (Pci-MIO-16E-1). Now, already 20 years after its introduction, an update is necessary. Is there a newer DAQ card (with PCIe bus) that can be used and which cable works? Any experiences?

To be clear, you need a new DAQ that is compatible with SCXI-1001? how about OS etc.,?
Are you planning to update SCXI as well?

I need a new DAQ that is compatible with SCXI-1001. Operating system and LabView runtime version will be updated as well. Obviously the latest Ni-DAQmx version I can use is 19.0, so newest LabView version is also 2019. Customer has 120 analog channels connected to this system.

Hi
SCXI was discontinued by NI in 2018. So we are into the dungeons.
Assuming the original system was programmed using NI-DAQmx and not NI-DAQ then there should be no blockers there.
You could upgrade to the M series NI PCI-6220. Should be compatible.
Upgrading from something like LabVIEW 6 or 7 on Windows XP to something like LabVIEW 19 on Windows 10 should not be impossible even considering the DAQ aspect.
If you like the original code probably written in classic LabVIEW fashion then you in for treat.
Good Luck

Thanks for the answer!
If the equipment were to be updated, what solution do you recommend when 210 analog measuring channels are needed for the voltage range +-5VDC and the channels must have isolation. The maximum measurement frequency is 1kHz.

The SCXI bus should be able to handle the requirement according to NI :
If your initial system requires more SCXI modules than one chassis can hold, or your system requirements change, simply add another chassis. With the SCXI expandable architecture, you can daisy-chain up to eight chassis to a single multifunction DAQ device. Whether you are using a single-chassis or multichassis system, you can still
But SCXI is discontinued. So you would need to buy used equipment from Artisan or other reputable sellers.
NI has made a web page describing the substitution modules for SCXI modules :
Obsolescence Planning for Several Legacy Product Families
This means upgrading to current PXI based systems or C-series based systems.
Either upgrade paths means writing a new requirements spec and doing some serious software rewrite. But working with that is why we are in this business.
So again Good Luck
