I have some very old code (LV 4.0) I need to open in current LV, and I'm trying to get LV 8.2.1 installed on Windows 10. I know it's not currently supported, use at your own risk, etc etc but it just won't open at all. 8.2 wouldn't install, so NI Support got me the 8.2.1 installer, which DID install, but just fails silently when starting up. No splash screen, error messages, etc. I can't find any compatibility settings that make it work. If I click LabVIEW.exe, I get a busy cursor for a few seconds and then nothing. I know I was able to do this a couple years ago on another computer using Windows 10. It seems that a Windows update has blocked me somehow. Aside from installing Windows 7 (or older) in a VM, are there any tricks here I can use? (I tried checking Event Viewer for errors but couldn't find anything, and my antivirus software didn't show any alerts that I can find).

8.2.1 still works fine for me. But LabVIEW 4 did stop working sometime last year. I'm still running Windows 10 with whatever updates my IT pushes down on me.

Well, what I actually have is the Version Update Software (or named similarly) that was put out a long time ago to be able to upgrade from LabVIEW 2 through LabVIEW 4. I somehow found a copy when cleaning out somebody's office. There is not an installer, just an executable and some of the support stuff.
